Course Overview

The introduction of LL.M. One year Degree Programme by the University Grant Commission (UGC) is intended to enable the existing legal education system to compete with the system prevailing in developed countries like USA and UK. The School of Law Galgotias University offers One Year LL.M. Degree Programme as per UGC Guidelines under the auspices of Centre of Post-Graduate Legal Studies (CPGLS). The vision of the University is to achieve excellence in legal education and become a renowned centre for higher education and academic research’.

Core Modules

The University follows trimester system for One Year LLM Programme. The course structure is as follows:

Trimester – I
The first term shall have the following three foundational/compulsory papers of three credits each.

  1. Legal Research Methodology
  2. Comparative Public Law
  3. Law and Justice in a Globalized World

Trimester – II
The second term shall have four papers of two credits each from the areas of specialization.

Trimester – III
The third term shall have two papers of two credits each from the areas of specialization, , and compulsory Dissertation. Dissertation shall have minimum of 5 credits.

Eligibility

Indian / Foreign nationals seeking admission to the One Year LL M Degree Programme should have passed the final examination of Bachelor Degree in conducted by a University duly recognised by the UGC with minimum 50% aggregate marks. Students who have appeared for final year Degree examination can be admitted provisionally, subject to clearing the final year examinations latest by the date decided by the University.

Career Prospectus

A Post Graduate in Law can join the judicial services as Judge after clearing exam conducted by various State Commissions apart from pursuing research in law or taking up teaching assignment.
