The School of Law at Galgotias University aspires to become a renowned centre for research and teaching in law in the Country. The pursuit of the School of Law is to provide students with an excellent education and to contribute to the advancement of knowledge of law. It is with this vision that the law school offers undergraduate and postgraduate Law programs.

The School of Law Galgotias University proposes to offer One Year LL.M. Degree Programme as per UGC Guidelines under the auspices of Centre of Post-Graduate Legal Studies (CPGLS). The Centre comprises of highly qualified and experienced faculty members who have rich experience in teaching and academic research. The faculty is ably assisted by a dedicated team of research scholars and non-teaching staff in their pursuit. The Centre aspires to become an institute of excellence to impart legal education and promote academic research.


The introduction of One year LLM programme by the University Grant Commission (UGC) is intended to reform legal education and enable the existing legal education system to compete with the system prevailing in developed countries like USA and UK and Indian students to pursue this pioneering post graduation programme from an Indian university of excellence. The Introduction of LL.M. – One Year Programme is a joint effort of the UGC, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, and the Expert Committee constituted by the UGC. As per the recommendation of the Expert Committee, UGC issued Guidelines for One year LLM programme enabling the Universities to introduce the programme.

The Galgotias University, as per its higher education expansion programme and its vision to impart excellence in legal education, established the Centre for Post Graduate Legal Studies (CPGLS) in the School of Law for the purpose of One Year LL.M. Degree Programme, fulfilling the conditions of the UGC Guidelines.

The Centre of Post-Graduate Legal Studies

The Centre for Post Graduate Legal Studies is established at School of Law, Galgotias University Uttar Pradesh to stimulate advance legal research and provide distinctive education in specialized areas of Law. The Centre has been established fulfilling the conditions of the UGC guidelines for the introduction of LL.M. One Year Degree Programme.

Galgotias University Central Library is centrally air-conditioned and consists of a number of departmental libraries which collectively support the teaching, research and extension programmes of the Institute. All students, faculty members and employees of the Institute are entitled to make use of the Library facilities on taking library membership. The Library has a huge collection of books on various disciplines. The Library uses (Libsys/SIM) software package which is an integrated multi-user library management system that supports all in-house operations of the Library. Libsys consists of modules on acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, serials, article indexing and OPAC. The Library contributes to the fulfilment of the University's mission by: Selecting, acquiring, organising, maintaining and making accessible a collection of printed and non-printed, primary and secondary materials that will support the educational, research and public service programmes of both students and the faculty.

The School of Law has a separate Library of its own having a comprehensive collection of text and reference books, journals, magazines, research reports, online database, which furthers learning and research activities. The library is well equipped to support the academic and research needs of the students. The library contains more than 2600 print volumes, 200 print titles and access to various Online Journals. The Library subscribes to Legal Journals, national and international. The Library support staff is extremely knowledgeable, assisting the students in their intellectual pursuit.

Xerox and Internet facility are also available in the School of Law Library.

The Infrastructure at Galgotias University is distinctive and modern in outlook. The campus can boast of being one of the finest infrastructures being built in the NCR. The state-of-the-art campus has been designed by renowned architects specialising in educational architecture. The classrooms, library, hostels and cafeterias and other spaces are comparable with the world's best. The campus provides an ambience perfectly conducive to teaching, learning and research activities. The campus is hi-tech and offers strong IT infrastructure. Facilities for Tele-Conferencing and Technologically advanced equipments for teaching/research:

The University understands the importance of technologically driven teaching and academic research, and has taken substantial initiatives in this regard. The law School has set up tele-conferencing facility for permeating learning. The class rooms are also equipped with an array of hi-tech equipments like LCD projectors, A/V Equipments, networked computers and wi-fi access.

Availability of ICT enabled facilities:

A large number of ICT enabled facilities are available in the Law School Library. Students have access to large number of e-books and International Journals. The library also subscribes to Lexis Nexis and Manupatra. The library also houses an internet café having 10 terminals for easy access and has well equipped computer facilities. The University has also taken initiatives to create effective online learning sites and uses the MOODLE platform for course management. The School of Law is also a part of this initiative and has its own site in this Learning Management System. The platform brings the student and the faculty in virtual contact 24x7, it further affords opportunity for uploading course material, assigning research topics, submission of research work and assignments and evaluation of submitted work. This platform is a very powerful tool for consistent guidance & assessment of the students.  The school of Law takes pride in successfully implementing this facility.
